If names are removed from the petition, do the petitioners have the opportunity to obtain additional signatures?

Yes.  However, this must be done within a reasonable timeframe after submission of the petition.  In addition, the petitioner is only afforded 1 additional opportunity.  If, after the 2^nd attempt, the petition does not have the required number of signatures, the petitioner must start over and submit a new petition.
